Housing Transfer Fee

$350

Charged when a student transfers to a different housing assignment, including approved room changes during the academic year.

Cancellation Fees

Cancellation fees apply after a Housing License Agreement has been signed.

Cancellation During April

$750

Cancellation During May Through End of License Agreement

$2,500

Students may also remain responsible for additional housing charges as outlined in their License Agreement.

Replacement Key Fee

$50 per key

Charged when a key is lost and a replacement is issued.

Lock Replacement Fee

$350

Charged when locks must be replaced due to lost or stolen keys that present a security concern.

Smoking Violation

$50 per occurrence

Assessed for smoking in prohibited areas or within Yale Graduate Housing facilities.

Unauthorized Appliance Fee

$100 per appliance

Applies to prohibited appliances, including:

• Space heaters
• Personal washing machines
• Personal dishwashers
• Unauthorized air-conditioning units

Additional disciplinary action may apply.

Unauthorized Late Departure Fee

$500

Charged when a resident remains in housing after their License Agreement end date without prior approval.

Additional Occupancy Charge

$50 per night

Charged in addition to the late departure fee for each night a resident remains beyond their approved move-out date.

Failure to properly maintain your apartment or prepare it for move-out will result in fines applied directly to your YalePay account. Maintenance repairs that go beyond normal wear and tear will be assessed additional charges based on actual replacement costs.
