Welcome to the Yale Graduate Housing community! Moving to a new university is a major transition. Use this step-by-step guide to plan your travel, complete your mandatory university checklists, and prepare for a smooth move-in day.
Phase 1: Before You Arrive
Please ensure these critical items are finalized well in advance of your travel plans:
- Yale Health Immunization Requirements: All new students must submit mandatory health history and vaccine documentation before arriving on campus. Review requirements early to avoid registration delays.
- Schedule Your Move-In Appointment: Once your housing assignment is finalized, log into your portal to select your official move-in date and arrival time slot.
- School Orientation Schedules: Check the university orientation calendar to coordinate your travel dates with your specific graduate or professional school start timeline.
Phase 2: Move-In Day & Logistics
Everything you need to know about arriving on campus and picking up your keys:
- Check-In Locations & Key Pickup: You will receive an email prior to your arrival date with specific instructions regarding your designated key pickup location, parking instructions, and check-in desk hours.

- Checking In & Early Arrivals Policy: Students can check in to their dormitory or apartment only as of the first day of their Housing License Agreement.
- Early arrivals are strictly permitted only for residents who must attend Yale’s Math Camp or English Language Program. Proof of enrollment is required, and there are no other exceptions. If you arrive in New Haven before your official check-in date, please arrange overnight accommodations.
