(exempt from lead paint disclosure are efficiency style apartments.)  All Yale apartment style housing was built before 1978.  Housing built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint.  Before renting pre-1978 housing, landlords must disclose the presence of know lead-based paint and lead-based hazards in the dwelling. The university recognizes that any housing built prior to 1978 may contain lead-based paint and lead-based paint hazards. Tenants must also receive a federally approved information on lead poisoning prevention.  Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home.

Yale ALERT System

Yale contractors, visitors, neighbors, and others can now sign up for Yale ALERT. Go to https://yale.bbcportal.com/ and follow the instructions to set up an account.

In the event of an emergency on campus, it is important for you to be prepared and know how to respond to information provided to you through Yale ALERT. Depending on the situation, you may receive instructions to evacuate or to shelter in place. Shelter in place generally means finding a safe location indoors and staying there.  Instructions may vary depending on the situation, the location of the emergency on campus, and information available from law enforcement and others.

The University uses Yale ALERT to notify the campus community in the event of an emergency. Yale ALERT is ONLY for campus emergencies and not for routine announcements. It is important to keep your contact information up-to-date at the Yale Portal and WebSIS. Detailed instructions for updating are at https://emergency.yale.edu/stay-informed. This will help ensure that, in the event of an emergency, we can reach you through Yale ALERT. Additional information about preparing for an emergency is also on http://emergency.yale.edu.
