Swap Room

“Take what you need, leave what you can”

Founded in 2010 by graduate housing residents, the Swap Room began as a children’s clothing exchange and has since grown into a robust program that promotes sustainability and community. The Swap Room offers a space where residents can donate gently used clothing and household items or discover treasures of their own, reducing waste and fostering a spirit of generosity.

Location and Hours:

  • The Swap Room is located in the basement of 533 Prospect Street
  • Please join the Yale Connect Group or Yale  swaproom.whitehall@gmail.com  For the most up to date schedule.  You may request additional access, if you are unable to attend during regular open hours.

Community Garden

The Sustainability Coordinator collaborates with Grounds Maintenance to manage           the Community Garden, where residents can grow and maintain their own veggies         during the warmer months. A live lottery is held each year, offering a great way to connect with nature and neighbors.

Spring Salvage Program

In an effort to reduce waste and the disposal of quality used furniture, Yale Housing runs a furniture adoption program to help residents, while reducing the number of items sent to our landfills. This program is only available during the months of April - September. Please visit the Spring Salvage Page to submit a piece of furniture or view adoptable items!
