Do I need to make a move in appointment?
For both Fall and Spring terms, students must select a move in appointment via the Housing Portal. For more information, please visit the Move In page.
Can I move in early?
Students may not move into their residences before the official opening day of the college. Early move ins are not allowed, and our office cannot grant exceptions.
Pre-term move in is restricted to pre-approved groups, such as student leaders, athletes, or students participating in orientation & move in activities. These students will receive specific information related to move in from their program leaders and residential college offices.
How can I best prepare for my return to or move onto campus?
Some helpful tips as you prepare for move in:
- Ensure you have scheduled your move-in appointment in advance via the Housing Portal
- Be attentive to your Yale student email as you’ll receive important information and reminders from your residential college and the housing office
- Make note of any restrictions for late arrivals (after 5:00pm) and communicate changes in plans as soon as possible
- Visit the Move In page for more information. First-Year and Transfer students should also refer to the Planning Your Move In website for additional tips and resources.
What should I do if my travel plans have changed, and I need to arrive later than my scheduled appointment?
If you anticipate a delayed arrival, be sure to update your move-in appointment in the housing portal at least 48 hours in advance. If you run into an unexpected delay on the day of your move in, contact your residential college office for further assistance.
