Can I stay on campus if my student is a graduate student?
On-campus housing is reserved for families and guests of Yale College undergraduate students only.

Is there a nightly rate to stay in on-campus housing?
The housing fee is $251 per person. This flat fee covers a stay of one, two, or three nights.

Do I have to pay for children under 5?
Yes, for security purposes, all guests planning to stay in on-campus housing must be registered and paid for.

Does the University offer financial assistance for costs related to Commencement?
Families of students may request financial aid for costs related to commencement through the following link: https://safetynet.yale.edu/hc/en-us. Please note that your graduating student will need to submit the request. Please contact the undergraduate financial aid office with any questions.

Am I guaranteed housing if I register?
Yes, you are confirmed to reside on campus for commencement weekend once you have successfully registered. A successful registration means you have paid and received a confirmation email. You’ll receive your room assignment upon your arrival to campus.

I’m not sure if my family is able to attend and I’m worried housing will fill up. Am I able to reserve beds and pay later once my plans are confirmed?
Payment is due at the time of registration in order to confirm and guarantee housing for the weekend. We recommend reserving early with the understanding that you can cancel at any time for a refund up until April 16th.

Will housing be assigned within our graduating student’s college, and if so, is placement in the same suite possible?
We do our best to place families within the same residential college as their graduating student to the extent possible, but you will not be placed within the same suite as your graduating student.

When will we know our assignment?
Housing assignments, along with keys and access cards will be provided to guests upon their arrival to campus.

Can I request an early arrival and/or extended stay?
No. Early arrivals and extended stays cannot be accommodated.

How does housing work for families/groups?
It is recommended that you register everyone in your group under one reservation so that you are linked as a group. We do our best to house groups together to the extent possible (within the same suite, neighboring rooms, on the same floor). Please note that room configurations vary per college, so it is likely that larger groups will be housed in nearby suites or rooms, or within the same entryway on various floors.

Will my family have to share a suite with another family?
You will not share a bedroom with another family, but there is a possibility you may share a suite with another family based on availability and volume of housing requests.

Will we share a bathroom with other guests?
Yes, bathrooms are shared and are located down a common hallway. Private and/or ensuite bathrooms are not available.

What is provided in the room?
All bedrooms are furnished with single twin beds, dressers, desks, and chairs.

Do I need to bring my own linens?
Rooms will be cleaned prior to guests arrival, and beds will be made up with a pillow and pillowcase, a sheet, and a blanket. Three towels will also be provided. Guests are responsible for bringing any other personal toiletries. Daily housekeeping services will not be provided.

Is there air conditioning in the residential colleges?
There is no air conditioning in the residential colleges.

Are there elevators in the residential colleges?
Elevators are not available in most buildings. We make every effort to assign guests to lower-level or ground floor rooms when needed. Please note that most entryways include a few entry steps. Due to limited room availability, guests requiring lower-level accommodations will be housed with one other family member, and remaining group members may be placed on a different floor, nearby entryway, or neighboring college. Guests should take this into consideration as they plan for the weekend.

Someone in my family has a medical need. Are accessible rooms available?
Accessible rooms on campus are limited and likely to be unavailable during Commencement weekend. You will have the opportunity to make note of any specific accommodation needs within your registration. Please note that due to limited room availability, guests requiring specific accommodations will be housed with one other family member. Remaining family members may be housed on a different floor, a neighboring entryway, or a neighboring college. Guests should take this into consideration as they plan for the weekend.

Can I add guests to my existing registration?

At the bottom of the page, there will be an option to “Add Additional Guest”. The deadline for adding guests and/or modifying your reservation is April 16th.

What is the deadline to cancel and still receive a refund?
April 16th, 2026 is the deadline to cancel and receive a refund. There is a $25 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be provided for cancellations made after April 16th.
