Dormitory Check-In

New contracts begin August 1, 2023

Check-In Information:

We have organized three move-in timeframes with two weekend options for you to choose from:

Check-In Option 1: Tuesday, August 1, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Check-In Weekend 1:  Friday, August 4th – Sunday August 6th, from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Check-In Weekend 2: is Friday August 18th – Sunday August 20th,  from 10:00am – 8:00pm.

If you require an alternate move-in date, please fill out the form there is a place to request alternate dates. Please note that approval is needed, and availability is limited to Monday-Thursday, from 9:00am – 3:00pm at the Graduate Housing Office. Once your form is submitted for the alternate date, someone will confirm with you. Please check your Yale email account.

**Important to ensure a smooth move-in process, all residents must fill out the arrival form by Sunday July 16th @ Midnight. 

What if I arrive to campus outside the dates/times available? 

If you are planning to arrive on campus outside of the designated move-in times/days, please make arrangements to book a hotel until the next available appointment slot is open.   

Where do I check-In?

During the move-in weekends, please check in at your assigned dormitory or apartment complex. 

For residents who have been approved for alternate move-in dates/times, you must check in at the Graduate Housing Office located at 420 Temple Street, New Haven, CT 06510, Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 3:00pm. If your assignment is at ES Harkness Hall, please check in there at 367 Cedar Street, New Haven, CT 06511, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Does Housing Have Furniture or Other Household Items Available to New Residents? 

Yale Housing runs a year-round swap room with used donated small kitchen appliances, clothing items, electronics, and other household goods that residents can take for free as needed.  Residents may also donate items they no longer need for others to take.  

In addition, we are currently running our spring salvage for larger furniture items that are available for adoption.  To see what’s available please visit

How do I get to campus from the airport?

There are many ways to get to campus from JFK airport (NY), La Guardia airport (NY), and Bradley airport (CT). There are shuttle busses, trains, and rental cars. For more information, visit the Yale Transportation Options site.
